Classy L.A.D.Y.

What is Classy L.A.D.Y.?
Classy L.A.D.Y. is a community-based pregnancy prevention program designed for female older teens and young adults (ages 17-22) who live, work, worship or attend school in North Columbia. For 6 weeks during two-hour sessions, participants have the opportunity to discuss the following topics: healthy relationships, STDs, domestic violence, contraception, communication, behavior management, career goals, and leadership.
Why It Matters
Did you know that North Columbia (29203) has the highest number of teen pregnancies in the state and within the county? Since 2003, the teen pregnancy numbers have been steadily increasing, and older teens (ages 18-19) represent over 60% of these pregnancies.
Of the pregnant older teens in the area, only 56% have graduated from high school or enrolled in a post-highschool program. Statistically, pregnant teens are less likely to graduate from high school or enroll in college. They are also more likely to become victims of poverty.
How Can I Join?
Classy L.A.D.Y. is a collaborative project of the Leadership Institute of Columbia College and Clear Vision Seminars and Consulting and sponsored by a grant from Palmetto Health Office of Community Services.
